17th Jul 2015

Endemol Shine UK today announced that Joint Managing Director of Remarkable Television, Nick Mather is stepping up to the newly expanded role of Creative Director of the Central Creative Team.

Mather will be focused primarily on the origination and development of new IP across multiple platforms, looking for new commissioning opportunities with UK broadcasters and overseeing the Central Creative Team within Endemol Shine UK.

Mather will be supported by Jamie Ormerod; current Head of Entertainment Development at Remarkable Television who joins Nick’s team as Head of Entertainment and Formats, Central Creative Team.

Mather’s credits include co-creating the smash hit BBC One game show Pointless, the award-winning multiplatform format for Channel 4 The Singer Takes it All and The Almost Impossible Game Show which has just been commissioned by ITV2. He also developed 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show (BBC One), The Whole 19 Yards (ITV) and Golden Balls (ITV). During his time as Managing Director at Remarkable Television he has overseen series such as Two Tribes (BBC Two) and Ejector Seat (ITV).

Established in 1998, the Central Creative Team is a unit of development executives that also houses the long running and successful creative intern scheme. Mather himself came through the initiative in 2000 before joining the BBC development team. He returned to Endemol UK in 2005, taking on numerous senior creative roles. He became Joint Managing Director of Remarkable Television in 2013.

“The Central Creative Team has long been a home for experimentation and development of new ideas as well as bringing through new talent at Endemol UK,” said Richard Johnston, CEO of Endemol Shine UK. “In all respects there is no one better suited than Nick to head up this engine room for the expanded group and we’re delighted he has accepted the challenge to take on this new role.”

Since its launch 17 years ago, around 60 executives have taken part in the Endemol Shine UK creative intern scheme. Five new trainees have joined this year’s intake for up to nine months before taking on roles in the group. Past alumni include Adam Adler, Andy Culpin, David Flynn, Gail Harman, Catherine Lynch and Matt Walton.
