Broadchurch Reaches 100 Territories Worldwide

Shine International today announce sales of Broadchurch in a series of territories bringing the total number to 100 to date.

These include a deal with M-NET in Africa in addition to China (Youku), Canada (Shaw Media), Brazil (Globo SAT 1), Isreal (Hot TV), Iceland (365 Media) Finland (MTVOy/ MTV3) and Belgium (VMMA).

These follow previous sales to the USA, Australia, Sweden, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, Russia, New Zealand and Latin America.

Created by Chris Chibnall (Law & Order UK, Torchwood), Broadchurchis an eight-part crime drama starring David Tennant (Doctor Who, Blackpool) and Olivia Colman (The Iron Lady, Tyrannosaur) that explores what happens to a small community when it suddenly becomes the focus of a police investigation following the tragic and mysterious death of an eleven-year-old boy.

The show debuted on ITV in March 2013 and was the UK’s most-watched new drama of 2013 attracting an audience in excess of 10 million viewers for the finale and has been commissioned for a second season.

Fox recently confirmed an adaptation of Broadchurch for the US market, produced in partnership with Shine America in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends, which begins filming in January for broadcast during the 2014-2015 season.
