Shine Group Partner With Photographer and Film Maker Adrian Steirn.
5th Dec 2012
Shine Group today announced an exclusive partnership with award-winning photographer and film maker Adrian Steirn to develop television and digital projects internationally.
Steirn’s work spans portraiture, wildlife photography and documentary filmmaking where he is renowned for conveying a frank and insightful narrative around his subjects, their environments, passions and causes.
The deal sees Steirn and Shine Group collaborating to create new properties within the factual genre (both traditional broadcast and multi-platform) for the international marketplace across an initial two year period.
Steirn’s recent projects include 21 Icons, www.21icons.com, a series of 21 portraits and supporting short films depicting iconic men and women that have shaped the history of his adopted home of South Africa and the world, with the aim of inspiring future generations. Those participating have included Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
In January this year Steirn was commissioned by The Global Fund to mark its 10th anniversary of fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria with a selection of portraits and a short film 10 Years of Impact www.youtube.com/watch?v=OA-31xD0log. The campaign featuring founder Bono alongside high profile Global Fund supporters, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon premiered at this year’s World Economic Forum.
Other recent campaign work includes a collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Society and the UK’s Department of Health dementia campaign on A Day To Remember, including a short film drawing on powerful personal memories including the insight and experiences of, among others, Sir Michael Parkinson www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9SRly5YC68.
Steirn was chosen to exclusively chronicle Nelson Mandela’s 94th Birthday celebrations in August this year, the photo essays from which have since featured in international publications including The Times and The Australian.
Much of Steirn’s portfolio features the wildlife and beauty of Africa for which he has been honoured as the Nikon Africa Professional Photographer of the Year in 2009 and was the overall winner of the Africa Photographic Awards 2010.
Alex Mahon, CEO Shine Group said: “Adrian is an outstanding creative talent whose complements the extraordinary and distinctive images that he captures with a compelling narrative. He is a natural storyteller with an incredible eye and a unique approach and as such we are hugely excited by the many creative possibilities a partnership with him presents.”
Adrian Steirn said: “I think it’s an exciting time to be a filmmaker and a photographer. I am looking forward to moving forward with the Shine Group as we focus on narrative driven content that has credibility and purpose.”
