Matt Campbell to join Shine Australia as Managing Director

Shine Australia today announced that Matt Campbell has been appointed to the role of Managing Director, a
newly created position following the recent expanded roles assumed by joint CEO’s Carl and Mark Fennessy as CEO Shine USA and President, Shine Network respectively.
Matt previously held the title of Executive Director of Content, Television and Online at SBS.
Matt will be responsible for the stewardship of the business providing further support in the management of all Shine productions and brands. In only its second year of operation the company is well positioned for significant growth in the next two years. Matt will report into both Mark and Carl Fennessy.
Mark Fennessy said: “Matt is an outstanding executive who is highly respected both locally and internationally.His expertise across multiple platforms of content will be a significant asset to our business in Australia. We’re delighted to welcome him into the family at Shine.”

Matt was appointed the Executive Director of Content, Television and Online for SBS in April 2006, originally
joining the corporation as Network Programmer in 2004. He was responsible for driving the cross-platform
editorial strategy and increasing audience reach across the board. Matt launched SBS’s first digital channel SBS Two and has overseen hundreds of hours of production across all genres including drama, factual,
entertainment, film, comedy and sport.
Prior to his appointment at SBS, Matt worked as an independent in France creating Wallaroo Productions &
Distribution in 1993 and was successful in creating a strong audiovisual alliance between Australia and France. From his early days as an actor, Matt has spent most of his life immersed in television.Established in January 2010, Shine Australia produces both scripted and non-scripted programming for the Australian and New Zealand markets. These include Junior MasterChef, The Biggest Loser, Australia’s Next Top Model, Dating in the Dark and soon to be launched new series The Renovators (Network Ten), The Voice (Nine Network) Wife Swap (LifeStyle YOU) and The Family (SBS). Before Shine Australia, Mark and Carl Fennessy were CEO and Chief Operating Officer at FremantleMedia Australia, prior to which they successfully launched and managed independent production company Crackerjack.
