Shine TV Appoints Tanya Shaw as Creative Director

Shine TV today announced the appointment of Tanya Shaw to the role of Creative Director.

As Creative Director, Shaw will report to Managing Director Kelly Webb- Lamb who held the role prior to her promotion in Sept 2013.

Commencing her new position in the Spring, Shaw is to manage Shine TV’s existing developments with a brief to continue to grow the company’s slate of popular factual programming, ranging from factual entertainment formats to features and documentaries.

Last week saw the launch of Ashley Banjo’s Big Town Dance for Sky 1 and the return of Britain’s Best Bakery to ITV. Recent commissions include the Island of Lost Blokes for Channel 4, Auf Wiedershen My Pet for ITV and popular returning series include series six of Channel 5′s Eddie Stobart: Trucks, Trains and Planes, and a third series of Sky 1’s Ashley Banjo’s Street Crew as well as a range of high-profile documentaries including The Lying Games: Crimes that Fooled Britain for ITV, Karaoke Nights for Channel 4 and Idris Elba: King of Speed, a co-production with Shine North, for BBC 2.

Shaw joined the BBC in her current role as Commissioning Editor, Factual Features and Formats in 2012. Key commissions include, Rick Stein’s India, Mary Berry Cooks, Ben and James versus The Arabian Desert, The Incredible Spice Men, The Great Interior Design Challenge and The Zoo Next Door . Shaw will continue to Executive Produce series for the BBC until her departure .

Prior to the BBC, Shaw worked at Channel 4, where she held the position of Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual from 2008 – 2012 and was responsible for, amongst others, Four Rooms, The Food Hospital, Alone in the Wild, Tsunami: Caught on Camera and Bear Grylls first two wild weekends with Jonathan Ross and Miranda Hart.

Prior to this she was Creative Director at Silver River, Executive - Producer on a number of factual shows including Millionaires’ Mission and Fat Man’s Warning. Shaw’s production credits include also number of historical and current affairs documentaries as well as more popular factual series including Lads Army, I’m a Celebrity, Pop Idol and the BAFTA winning first series of The Apprentice.

Founded in 2001, Shine TV is the original production company of what went on to becoame the Shine Group. Shine TV incorporates the company’s main production HQ in NW1 lead by Webb- Lamb and the Shine Soho offices, from where all MasterChef series are produced under Creative Director, Karen Ross.
