Shine Group today announced that current Chief Operating Officer, Shine Australia Tim Robinson has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Shine Group.
Robinson relocates to London to take up the role in early 2013, reporting to Shine Group Chief Executive Officer Alex Mahon, who previously held the role before being promoted earlier this year. Robinson assumes responsibility for driving all business development, operational and commercial aspects of the Group which currently stands at 29 companies across 12 countries.
Originally joining Shine Group in 2008 as Business Development Director, Robinson also previously held the roles of Commercial Director, Europe and concurrently a period acting as Deputy CEO of Shine’s Metronome Group. He joined Shine Australia, first as Commercial Director in 2010 before being promoted to COO in July last year.
In a complementary move Chris Fry, Shine Group’s Head of Finance, Operational Investment and Corporate Development will join Shine Australia as Head of Business and Finance Strategy for the region, relocating to Australia next year. Fry’s brief will be to provide financial, operational and commercial support to the existing team.
Alex Mahon said: “Tim is an outstanding commercial executive with experience in, and an aptitude for, every aspect of Shine’s business. We are delighted that after a hugely productive two years with Shine Australia that these skills will now be deployed again across the whole group as we move into our next phase of growth. In a similar vein, Chris’ knowledge and insight will be of great value to the team at Shine Australia and we are all excited that he is making the move to join them.”
Tim Robinson said: “After two great years in Sydney, I am sorry to be saying goodbye to the world class team of people at Shine Australia. The opportunity to return to Shine Group at this point is irresistible though and, alongside Alex and her highly talented team, I cannot wait to play a leading role in the future growth and evolution of all the Group’s businesses.”
Prior to joining Shine, Robinson has spent over a decade working in the media industry, beginning at entertainment law firm, Sheridans where he was a partner specialising in the music business. From 2004 to 2006, he was Director of Business and Legal Affairs, and then acting Managing Director of Celador International. Upon Celador’s acquisition by 2waytraffic NV, he took on a corporate development role for 2waytraffic until the company was acquired by Sony in 2008.
Robinson’s appointment coincides with a management restructure at Shine Australia that sees Sara Horn, currently Director of Production, promoted to Executive Director Production; Scott Howard, Head of Business and Legal Affairs promoted to Commercial Director and Managing Director, Matt Campbell departing the company.
Yesterday Shine Group announced the appointment of Rich Ross to CEO, Shine America. Ross succeeds current CEO Shine America Carl Fennessy, following the latter’s two-year tenure in LA. Fennessy returns to Australia in 2013 where he remains Joint CEO, Shine Australia.
