Shine America & Jack Black’s Team To Produce Web Comedy Series
17th Dec 2012
Shine America and Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite are teaming up to produce the new web comedy series Ghost Ghirls, which is set to debut in Spring 2013 exclusively on Yahoo! Screen (http://screen.yahoo.com).
Golden Globe nominee Black, Jake Johnson, Molly Shannon, Jason Schwartzman and numerous other celebrities will make cameo appearances in the hilarious, scripted paranormal procedural. The 12-episode series began production earlier this month in Los Angeles.
Ghost Ghirls follows the comedic antics of two young female ghostbusters, played by Lund and Blasucci-a pair of investigators attempting to solve the mysteries behind paranormal phenomena. At the same time, they attempt to convince their clients, some other-worldly visitors and themselves, that they are legit.
Ghost Ghirls was created by Jeremy Konner, Amanda Lund, and Maria Blasucci, who also serve as executive producers. Electric Dynamite’s Black and Priyanka Mattoo are executive producers, as well. Konner (Funny or Die’s Drunk History) is directing the series.
“‘Ghost Ghirls’ is the funniest idea for a TV show that we’ve seen since I’ve been in the business,” says Jack Black. “Jeremy Konner is an electrifying director, and Amanda and Maria are dynamite comedic talents. I’m very proud to be associated with such a powerful project.”
Vivi Zigler, President, Shine 360° & Digital, Shine America, added, “‘Ghost Ghirls’ is a rare creative concept that brings together some of Hollywood’s best and established, as well as up-and-coming performers and storytellers. It’s a very funny ride and we believe Yahoo! is the perfect partner to help us garner wide exposure for this special series.”
“Our users come to Yahoo! Screen for their daily dose of comedy and we’re excited to bring them ‘Ghost Ghirls,’” said Erin McPherson, Yahoo! VP and head of video and originals. “This series will also have fun celebrity cameos that our users enjoyed so much in Yahoo! originals “Burning Love” and “Sketchy.”
The Ghost Ghirls experience begins today on the show’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GhostGhirls, an inclusive destination, which over time will introduce fans to the Ghost Girls and their hilarious brand of spooky shenanigans via interactive digital pictures, video and other series- related content.
