Filmlance
Filmlance is one of Sweden’s largest independent production companies, producing high-end television and feature films since its establishment in 1988.
Filmlance’s catalogue includes more than 70 titles including the hugely successful drama Bron/Broen (The Bridge) as well as major motion pictures, animated children’s films, TV films, TV series and short films. Many of Filmlance’s productions have received awards and attracted a great deal of attention at film festivals around the world with a production volume of two to three feature films and two to three TV drama projects per annum.
Filmlance has emphasised youth and children’s films from the very beginning, producing films such as Winter Bay, A Witch in the Family, The Children of Luna, An Island in the Sea and Hip Hip Hora. For several years they have produced Laban the Little Ghost in conjunction with the well-known PennFilm Studios – a completely Swedish collaboration for small children – it has proven highly successful throughout the Nordic region and will soon launch in several other European countries.
The phenomenon of Filmlance’s Bron/Broen (The Bridge) has seen the drama sold into 70 territories worldwide and two international versions go into production in 2012. Adapted for the US by FX and Shine America, The Bridge, starring Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir, gave FX their biggest scripted cable drama launch of the summer of 2013. In the UK, The Tunnel comes to Sky Atlantic in Oct 2013 and is a co-production between Canal + and Kudos.
In 2009 Filmlance was awarded a special prize by the BUFF Film Festival for their work with youth and children’s films.
As part of the Metronome Group, Filmlance joined Shine Group in 2009.
