Macarena Rey

Managing Director

Macarena Rey is Managing Director of Shine Iberia.

As part of Shine’s growing network of production companies, Macarena has been the head of operations in Spain and Portugal since joining in 2011.

Previously, Macarena was General Manager of BocaBoca Producciones, one of the main cinema and TV spanish production companies. During that time, they developed highly successful shows such as 21 días, Raphael, Carrero Blanco, 2055, Conexión Samanta, Malas Pulgas, Rescatando a Sara or Vidas Robadas. She arrived at this position after having similar responsibilities at Drive Group. Macarena has a business degree and a wide career in television, in very different genres and sector, including responsibilities as General Manager of the Spanish Canal+’ production arm, where she was overseeing all the production in the network.

She was also Content Director of Telefónica Media, where she was responsible of international movies and television coproductions with HBO and Fireworks (among others). Her career in television started at Grupo Telefónica (Antena3 y Vía Digital) where, as Purchasing Director, being responsible of content and asset selection for the pay-tv platform.
