Over four weeks and 20 episodes, bakeries from all over the UK compete in a series of baking challenges that put their skills to the test and make viewer’s mouths water. Along the way, the series shines a light on baking in the UK and all its delicious shapes and sizes. But this competition isn’t just about Victoria sponge and scones – it’s a celebration of everything from organic artisan breads and rare Bedfordshire Clangers to baklava and pandan cake.

Britain’s Best Bakery reveals fascinating stories about Britain and its history through pastries, breads and cakes! We’ll get to know the people who create and bake them, the stories behind them, the places to find them and the people who love to eat them. We’ll meet traditional baking families with top secret recipes passed down the generations, celebrating the variety of great baking on offer from all the different communities across the UK. Two big names from the baking world judge the competition, visiting each bakery and setting tricky baking tasks – all building to the dramatic final episode where they crown Britain’s Best Bakery.
