The launch of ITV’s newest soap, ‘Polnarren’, is not going swimmingly. The producer’s been sacked, the writers are panicking and the network is in crisis. Who worse, then, to troubleshoot than Jonathan Pope, a supposedly talented producer with a penchant for powder? Hired to save the sinking ship and create a re-energised, sexy Cornish soap called Echo Beach, Pope finds a production crew who have little time for his desperate attempts to create telly gold and little faith in his professional capacity. And as the behind-the-scenes drama plays out, we get to see how what happens off-screen, affects the drama on it.
